The Student Entrance, introduced as part of the massive 2015 renovation, welcomes the Middle School's 160 students into the ground floor of the beautiful glass "Link" building every morning.
The Visitor Entrance is the leftmost door on the terrace, through which BB&N parents or Admission Office visitors enter.
The Middle School Admission Office is located adjacent to the Reception Area in the main entrance area.
The Vaillant Wing contains three stories. On the terrace level is the Learning Commons. The first floor contains several newly renovated classrooms, each with a unique desk layout, ample windows for natural light, and state-of-the-art technology. The second floor contains classrooms as well as the campus' largest communal space, known as the Big Room.
The Learning Commons is a 2,000-square-foot area on the terrace level that combines library services with study spaces and technology-enhanced active learning workstations. The Learning Commons is a hallmark space at the Middle School—the hub of collaborative teaching and learning, which is a hallmark of the Middle School educational experience.
The Big Room is the auditorium at the Middle School. It offers a gathering area for students for the weekly community assembly, and is the venue for Middle School performances.
The foyers, added in the 2015 renovation, are the center of student life outside the classroom; they provide a space for BB&N Middle School students to gather, study, and interact. The seventh-grade foyer is located on the first floor, within the light-filled "Link" building; the eighth grade foyer is on the top floor.
The Side Yard is a turfed outdoor space, in which students can be found eating lunch, playing games, or attending outdoor classes.
The Science Labs are located in a free-standing building immediately east of the main building.
The Carriage House is a unique building on the Middle School campus with "old school" charm. It houses the Middle School Arts department as well as the Nurse's Office.
The Director's Office is located on the first floor of the facility, in a beautiful room located in the original Musgrave mansion. It overlooks the Terrace and its pair of stately copper beech trees. The Stowe Room across the hall is used for small meeting groups.
