When canvassing the students concerning what they love about Wakefield, there always seems to be a common theme – they love the community! Whether it’s a supportive teacher who is willing to tutor after class, a staff member planning an exciting event, a parent volunteering to sell concessions or the headmaster who always offers a listening ear, we value the welcoming, environment of a close-knit community. Many alumni have returned to Wakefield to share their experiences with our current students, and some have chosen to further their career here as well.

[MUSIC PLAYING] One of the really remarkable things about Wakefield is the community that we have here. It starts with our parents and families, grandparents and friends who volunteer everywhere on campus for our community events and activities for our students.

It also includes funding that's provided for the school for different aspects of our needs here on campus.

When I reflect on my 12 years as a student at Wakefield, I think about what a small, tight-knit community we were. It was a place where we knew everyone. And our teachers knew us very well.

We were a community in which we were encouraged to communicate with each other and learn from each other every day. Wakefield really pushed us to look at the world, ask questions, think about it critically, and to be appreciative of the fact that we were part of a rigorous academic community.

I was more prepared I think than other students with the workload and writing papers and deadlines. And the work that you put in here definitely prepares you for college.

You'll realize when you're in college that you're probably more advanced than some of your counterparts. It's really a small community, but it's a great community.
